Introduction

This website is devoted to a project, begun in early 2005, to study the Electric Sheep phenomenon created by Scott Draves. Scott has written,
Electric Sheep is an attention vortex. It illustrates the process by which the longer and closer one studies something, the more detail and structure appears. Electric sheep investigates the role of experiencers in creating the experience.
In fact, Electric Sheep is an instance of cyborg mind, recalling the ideas of Philip K. Dick, Donna Harraway, Francisco Varela, and Evan Thompson. A collective idea emerges in cyberspace, and becomes visible in the screensavers of the clients. The evolution of the idea is slow, and is best studied through the data collected by the render farm, or master server. Our study is based on this data set, which we explore using ideas from chaos theory and fractal geometry.
